Ambition Kitchens and Joinery

Ambition Kitchen and Joinery started in 2016 however it’s owner, Paul, has been a cabinetmaker for over 10 years prior.

After leaving his cabinetmaking employer of 10 years, Paul wanted to start his own business. He loved what he did and couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

He worked as a contractor for other kitchen and cabinet makers in between building his own clients. In June 2016 after a year of contracting, and juggling his own jobs, he realised he needed to run the business outside of home. He decided it was time to rent a factory so he had space for machinery he needed and to store stock.

In September 2017, Paul’s partner Leanne, joined him full time into help him run the day to day operations and admin tasks of the business.

What made you decide to set up accounts on Facebook and Instagram?

We created our Facebook page in August 2016 as it was a free and easy way to showcase what we do, share ideas, and connect with more of the community. It was also a easy way for friends, family and clients to tag our company page when recommend us.

We then created our Instagram account in April 2017 to try expand our reach on another platform. We have found Instagram to be a great way to connect with locals, and communicate our services and services we use.

How has your online presence helped or impacted your business?

Social Media has been a great tool for our business in getting our name out there. A lot of our work comes from word of mouth in the form of our existing clientele tagging us in local community groups.

We also enjoy posting stories on Instagram so we can show people what we do. We found it a great way for clients to see you are working on their job, without having to email or call them. Our clients love it, as it it gets them excited to see the progress of their kitchen.

What has been your approach to what you post on your social platforms?

Having never used Instagram for personal use previously, our original approach was to engage with accounts in the same industries and same interests. However, lately we have been trying to connect and engage with accounts that are local to the Gold Coast community as these followers are more likely to require our services.

What has been the most challenging part of your business and how have you overcome it?

Our biggest challenge so far was running out of space. Our factory is only 180m2 which can fill up very quickly. We overcame this by better scheduling with our clients to ensure production times are kept to a minimum and on track for installations so that we don’t have to store materials for too long.

What has been the most satisfying part of your business?

Happy clients would hands down have to be the most rewarding part of our job!

Taking a client’s idea, bringing it to life and seeing their joyful reaction is an amazing feeling, and what I love being part of.
